STUDENT'S ptotest agaist UN in East Timor

STUDENT'S SENATOR OF NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF TIMOR-LESTE
Petition of Students
No. 05 / PE / CSE-UNTL / IX / 2011

A. Introduction
The History and evolution of the Democratic Republic of Timor - Leste showed that, this country was built on blood and bones of the people, through a long process of struggle with the sacrifice more than 200,000 people who lost their lives including all the wealth, with the principle of wanted to free themselves from colonialism and illegally occupation from another country. The United Nations (UN) that comes with UNAMET mission to facilitate the process of referendum on 30 August 1999, and further established the transitional administration (UNTAET) to provide, prepare and manage to set up a state institutions of RDTL, until the day of restoration of independence on 20 May 2002. UN contributions in the past the people of Timor - Leste always conscientious recognize in the history of Timor-Leste until future generations.

As citizens of Timor-Leste, we all are accompanying the UN mission in our country and in other countries, although some success contributed by UN in our country, but some were failure and lack of success in terms of justice and security. We were worried, in fact the UN mission in Timor - Leste have ended in 2006, and why extended until now ?.... possible scenario is that UN with itself to create management conflict between Timorese people, so that the UN staff could benefit from UN projects. The Security Council of the United Nations (UN) decided the extension of the UN peacekeeping mission in East Timor, for the coming year. Thus, the mission called the United Nations Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste (UNMIT) will be on duty in East Timor until February 26, 2011. The extension of the mandate through Resolution No. 1912 (2010) it was decided unanimously by the 15-members nations of Security Council at UN Headquarters, New York, with the aim to promote peace, stability and development in Timor Leste. but in reality UNMIT illegally to importing ammunition to Timor - Leste without knowledge by RDTL State authority, meaning that UNMIT has been violating UN existence been listed in article 1st of the UN charter, abbreviated as "to maintain international peace and security"

The main objectives of the UN is as follows:
  1. Maintaining international peace and security
  2. Advance friendly relations among nations based on respect for equal rights and self-determination
  3. Creating international cooperation in solving international problems in the field of economic, social and cultural
  4. Making the United Nations as a center for harmonizing the actions of all nations in achieving its objectives.

The actual situation in Timor-Leste showed that, UNMIT has given rise to did polemics in the public life, This example is similar in countries such as Somalia, Iraq and kosovo, the UN mission has not ended and its staff utilized the UN mission as project. This kind of experience we refuse to place in our country, such as political and military crises in 2006 in Timor-Leste which involved several UN international staff.

B. Demands
Dealing with illegally importing ammunition into Timor-Leste, then we are students of Timor-Leste's worrying, because it would threaten the national sovereignty and stability, so we take a position to submitting the following demands:
  1. 1. We demand to UNMIT to explain the purpose of importing ammunition into Timor-Leste, if this is to create conflict in order to extend the UN Mission in Timor-Leste, or any other purpose.
  2. 2. We ask to the UN security council in New York to review the UN mission in Timor-Leste which contributed to the conflict of the political crisis in 2006. if UNMIT does not want to contribute on security and national development, then the security council can decide immediately to end the UN mission in our country, because UN mission in Timor-Leste no longer conducive to the current situation.
  3. 3. Ask the UN local staff (Timorese), to strengthen our nationalism as timorense, set up our defenses against political scenario from UNMIT which intends to create instability in Timor-Leste, in order to become sub ordinary from UN mission.
  4. 4. Ask to Prime Minister as Minister for Defense and Security to demonstrate the fact of two containers ammunition which imported by UNMIT, in order not to cause a sense of trauma in the community.
  5. 5. To institution of the F-FDTL and PNTL as well as all the people of Timor-Leste to hold control with a maximum, to anticipate the actions that is likely to occur and threaten the sovereignty State of Timor-Leste.
  6. 6. We ask to President of the Republic of Timor-Leste, as chief of state and symbol of national unity in order not to close the negligence of UNMIT to the public. Similarly, the National Parliament to immediately conduct an examination of the ammunition.
  7. 7. When our demands are no gets a clear answers, then a short time (3 days) we will mobilize all the people to take action on a large scale and ask the UN security council in New York to end the UNMIT mission in Timor-Leste.
